Last week a story in the New York Times said Oakland is “coming into its own as a cultural destination.” Art is a big part of that. Although my studio is in the comparative artistic backwater of Berkeley, I heart Oakland and its art.
Tomorrow I’m installing my sample piece at the Berkeley Art Center to entice folks to come visit the studio during East Bay Open Studios in June. Making the piece gave me a bunch more ideas, probably more than I can execute before June, but I’m not complaining.
I don’t have a picture of the work in progress, so here’s some graffiti I saw in Chelsea. The writing isn’t quite ragged enough for graffiti, is it? I think it’s an art piece.
